simple white winter touch for a bright and open space

Love, love, LOVE these snow globes from West Elm. So simple and modern. Would add an elegant winter touch to any room and compliment a space full of color. Although their sale price of $19.99 seems reasonable, I'm sure it would make for a quick DIY project like these mason jars turned snow globes here.

Put a cluster of them on an open kitchen shelf or counter for a hint of the holidays while still maintaining a clean and open space to cook up a holiday meal. Love the cheery yellow and open shelving!

in other christmas related news

I came across this video on Making it Lovely and I am in love with this concept and Foster family tradition. Instead of sending out holiday cards, the Foster family creates a video for all to enjoy. This is their fourth year and it is absolutely awesome!

a random note on marriage

Many marriages would be better if the husband and wife clearly understood that they’re on the same side.

It must've been all that red that put me in a romantic mood and led me to the World of Love Quotes site.

This one in particular stood out for me and the picture associated fits perfectly after doing a Christmas decorating post.

a red, white, and silver christmas

This is my first year pouring my heart into Christmas decorating. I've been in a red mood lately which, according to this color chart, means I'm excited, energized, adventurous and ready to go. Seems about right.

I decided to use red as my theme backed by silver and white to let the red pop. Right now, my mantle is coming together nicely. Most of the decorations came from IKEA, minus the tree which I picked up at Hobby Lobby (they have all Christmas decor at 50% off right now plus, with this coupon, you can get one item at an extra 40% off... sweet!)

Looking at it from a distance, I feel like it is missing something... maybe some long red candles, stocking holders, or lighting? Hmmm., we shall see...

classy chic lounge

1. I entered a giveaway for a Modernica lamp shade. This one here is my fav (small version sells for $299). So chic and classy...wish me luck!
2. I had a "if I won..." moment and immediately thought to pair it with a red lounge chair, such as this one.
3. The curtains add class and elegance, starting to feel a romance novel reading nook coming along.
4. This cleverly simple end table is perfect to hold some books and a glass of wine.

andy warhol inspired fabric choice

I just purchased the last of this Scarlet Fig farbic on Etsy and can't wait for it to come in.

A few years back, we fostered a puppy and she apparently thought the seating on the dining room chairs my husband bought from Eurway made for a good chew toy. The chairs are still usable- just not nice to look at up close. I've been meaning to reupholster them but hadn't made the effort to search for fabric. Then, by chance, I came across Laurie Wisburn's blog.

I immediately fell in love with the design and color of the Aqua Nesting Chair piece she created. It has a pop-art feel that will blend in beautifully with our Andy Warhol-inspired dining area, which looks a little something like this:

1. A set of four single Campell soup prints that are framed hang together on one wall.
2. A larger Warhol print hangs on a seperate wall that contains a ton of smaller canned soups.
3. The glass table above, along with the chairs, fairly resembles what we have at home.
4. I threw in a glimpse of the new fabric on this board to give an idea how it's going to look together.

I can't wait to post pictures of our actual dining area with the new upholstery!

a city next to sea

1. I am in love with the simplicity and funcionality of this drawer chest by Japanese designer Keiji Ashizawa.
2. The chest inspired my first thought, "living in th city, thinking of the sea", and the colors in this piece represent the scheme that came to mind.
3. The blue bed frame has a "laying out on the sea" feel to it and adds to the simple/ modern vibe.
